CONNSTEP’s Anna Mumford Honored at Women of Innovation Ceremony
By: Dean Simmons
CONNSTEP Cybersecurity Consultant Anna Mumford was among 45 honorees at the 19th Annual Women of Innovation ceremony, hosted by the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC). The CTC Women of Innovation program, one of the largest networks of women in technology, science and engineering in Connecticut, selected Mumford as one of six finalists in the Corporate Innovation and Leadership for Small/Medium-Sized Businesses category.
The CTC honors women who have achieved remarkable success and are empowering other women in scientific research, education, manufacturing, and business. For nearly 20 years, the prestigious Women of Innovation awards have celebrated excellence in leadership and innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Mumford was recognized for driving cybersecurity innovation and supporting the cybersecurity compliance efforts of manufacturers across Connecticut. CONNSTEP’s Director of Service Delivery, Rick Mullins, remarked, “This recognition highlights Anna’s dedication to cybersecurity and her exceptional contributions to corporate leadership, creativity, and innovation.”
The inspiring leaders were chosen from a field of 100 nominated candidates, including scientists, researchers, academics, manufacturers, student leaders, entrepreneurs, and technicians who are advancing science and business growth throughout Connecticut. As a nominee, Mumford had to meet criteria such as currently working or studying in Connecticut, demonstrating strong leadership abilities, and serving as a mentor in various capacities.
As a Supporting Sponsor of the event at The Woodwinds venue in Branford, CONNSTEP celebrated Mumford’s nomination with several colleagues joining her and her daughter at the ceremony, including Caroline Bernardoni, Rachele Brown, Anthony DiCioccio, Matin Karbassioon, Rick Mullins, Carissa Roman, and Hannah Stella. The event featured keynote speaker Daniel O’Keefe, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and Chief Innovation Officer, with Sarah Cody of WTNH News 8 as the emcee.
