Connecticut Smart Manufacturing Assessment & Access to Reduce Technology Emissions (CT SMARTE)

Connecting manufacturers with advanced technologies to drive efficiency and growth.

CT SMARTE helps Connecticut’s small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) reduce energy costs and emissions by providing access to Smart Manufacturing (SM) and High Performing Computing (HPC) technologies and the resources needed to adopt them.

This free program includes energy assessments, workforce development, technology workshops and funding opportunities.

Developed by Connecticut’s Department of Economic and Community Development, funded by the Department of Energy and the State of Connecticut with program support from CONNSTEP, University of Connecticut (UConn) and Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT).

The CT SMARTE program aims to help Connecticut’s small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) lower energy costs and reduce technology-related emissions. Through a series of workshops and activities, SMMs will receive tailored recommendations and training to implement advanced technologies, enhancing efficiency and productivity.

This is a free pilot program for Connecticut’s SMMs.

CT SMARTE can help SMMs:

  • Decrease energy usage, lower costs and reduce emissions to enhance resilience and develop automation in production processes
  • Discover financial and workforce development resources to make technology adoption feasible
  • Access federal and state funding opportunities to assist with technology adoption and implementation
    • Federal: up to $300,000 per manufacturer to implement recommendations made by energy assessments

Priority is given to SMMs located in distressed municipalities supporting the green energy, aerospace, defense and semiconductor industries.

There is no cost for SMMs to participate in this program. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and supported by matching funds from the Connecticut Department of Economic Community Development (DECD). The program will identify federal and state funds available to implement recommended solutions.
